OUR RECOMMENDED LUXURY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY TIMELINE
Every wedding is different, but this is the timeline we generally recommend for couples wanting an editorial, Vogue-worthy wedding gallery.
GROOM PREPARATIONS
45–60 minutes
Whether you're getting ready at a luxury hotel, family home or private estate, around an hour gives us plenty of time to capture details, candid moments with family and friends, portraits and those final touches before leaving for the ceremony.
If the groom is getting ready at a separate location, we'll also factor in travel time.
BRIDAL PREPARATIONS
1–2 hours
Bridal preparations are about so much more than putting on a dress.
This is where many of the day's most emotional moments happen. Letters being read, parents seeing their daughter for the first time, laughter with your bridal party and those quiet moments before everything begins.
Allowing one to two hours means we can photograph these moments without anyone feeling hurried.
BEFORE THE CEREMONY
30 minutes
Before guests arrive, we use this time to photograph your ceremony styling, florals, stationery and reception details exactly as you've envisioned them.
For couples who have chosen both photography and videography, we recommend allowing at least 30 minutes before the ceremony so your videographer can complete audio and camera setup without feeling rushed.
CEREMONY
30–60 minutes
Every ceremony is unique.
Religious ceremonies often take longer than civil ceremonies, while personalised readings, live music and cultural traditions naturally extend the timing.
CONGRATULATIONS & FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHS
20–30 minutes
Immediately after the ceremony, you'll be surrounded by the people who love you most.
This is the perfect time for hugs, champagne, candid moments and family portraits.
Keeping family photographs organised beforehand helps this part of the day move quickly, leaving you with more time to enjoy cocktail hour.
EDITORIAL PORTRAIT SESSION
60–90 minutes
This is where your wedding begins to feel like a magazine editorial.
Rather than posing constantly, we guide you through natural movement while making the most of beautiful architecture, landscapes and light.
Whenever possible, we recommend scheduling the majority of your portraits during the final hour before sunset.
This is when the light becomes softer, more flattering and infinitely more romantic.
If your venue allows, we'll often step away for an additional 10–15 minutes after sunset, when the sky turns pastel and the atmosphere becomes truly cinematic.
RECEPTION
Your reception coverage depends entirely on your plans for the evening.
Some couples simply want speeches, dinner and the first dance.
Others want us there until the dance floor is completely full.
We'll help tailor your photography coverage to suit the way you genuinely want to celebrate.
NIGHT PORTRAITS
10–15 minutes
Some of our favourite photographs are created long after sunset.
Whether we're using candlelight, architectural lighting, flash or sparklers, these images often become the most dramatic photographs in your gallery.
Stepping away for just ten minutes can create portraits that feel cinematic, intimate and unforgettable.

HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD YOU ALLOW FOR WEDDING PHOTOS?
For couples wanting a relaxed, editorial gallery, we generally recommend allowing 60–90 minutes for portraits, plus an additional 10–15 minutes after sunset for night photographs if possible. Your portrait session will often include mingling time at cocktail hour for candid and atmospheric portraits with your guests.
WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY FOR WEDDING PORTRAITS?
The hour before sunset, often called golden hour, provides the most flattering natural light. Whenever possible, we plan your editorial portraits around this time. We also love to shoot during ‘blue hour’ for those ethereal, romantic portraits taken in the last light of the day.
WHEN SHOULD WE PLAN FAMILY PHOTOS?
Immediately after the ceremony is usually the most efficient time, as everyone is already together before moving into cocktail hour.
