THE ROMANCE ERA APPROACH | EDITORIAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY & FILMS ACROSS AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND & EUROPE
“THE MOMENTS YOU AREN’T EXPECTING ARE THE ONES YOU WILL TREASURE THE MOST”
- Kristen Richelle, Creative Director of The Romance EraBefore I married my husband, I was absolutely certain of one thing. I was going to walk myself down the aisle.
I'd always felt a quiet resistance to the tradition of being "given away." I didn't want anyone handing me over like I belonged to someone else. It wasn't a dramatic statement, it was simply what felt right to me. So for months, that was the plan.
Then my wedding day arrived.
Standing beside the car, waiting for the music to begin, something shifted. The nerves hit harder than I'd ever imagined they would. All of a sudden, the confidence I'd carried through months of planning disappeared. My legs felt unsteady. My heart was racing. I remember turning to my stepdad and begging him -
"Please walk with me?"
There was no discussion.
No planning.
No grand moment.
Just an immediate smile spreading across his face as he quietly said yes. The moment lasted for thirty seconds and in the flurry of the day I had forgotten it had even existed.
Like every bride, I couldn't wait to receive our photographs. I imagined reliving the moments I'd been thinking about for months.
The look on Danny's face as I walked towards him, our first kiss as husband and wife, the portraits we'd playfully captured throughout the afternoon.
And yes, I loved every one of them.
But they weren't the photographs I returned to over and over again. Instead, I found myself stopping on an image I'd never expected to matter.
It was my stepdad.
Looking at me as we walked towards the ceremony.
He's smiling in a way I'd never seen before.
The type of smile that can only be described as ‘beaming’. I don't remember seeing that expression on the day. I couldn't have. I was too busy trying not to trip over my dress. Too focused on Danny waiting for me at the end of the aisle. Too caught up in the enormity of the moment.
The photograph allowed me to experience something I never could have while I was living it.
For the first time, I saw my wedding through someone else's eyes. That image changed me.
Not because it was technically perfect. Not because it was beautifully composed. But because it gave me something I didn't know I'd lost.
It gave me a memory I never actually experienced.
That photograph allowed me to witness my stepdad's joy in that moment. And somehow, years later, I can still feel it.
That was the moment I realised what wedding photography is really about.
It's not simply documenting the moments you expect.
Anyone can photograph the first kiss.
The dress.
The cake.
The confetti.
Those moments matter.
But they're rarely the moments that quietly become part of who you are. The photographs you'll treasure most are often the ones you never knew existed.
Your mum reaching for your hand before the ceremony. Your grandmother watching you dance from across the room. Your flower girl asleep under the reception table. Your best friend crying during a speech when everyone else is laughing. Your dad holding back tears before he walks you down the aisle.
The moments unfolding quietly in the background while you're busy living the biggest day of your life.
That understanding has shaped every wedding I've photographed since. Of course I'll create beautiful editorial portraits. We'll chase incredible light. We'll make time for those iconic photographs you'll frame on your walls.
But I'm equally devoted to everything happening around them.
Because while you're wrapped up in the biggest moments of your life, I'm paying attention to the smaller ones.
The ones you never saw.
The ones you couldn't possibly have seen.
The ones that, years from now, might become the photographs you treasure most.
Kristen xoLUXURY WITHOUT PERFORMANCE
The most elegant weddings rarely feel performative.
They feel effortless.
The greatest compliment we receive isn't that our couples look beautiful.
It's that they look like themselves.
Relaxed.
Present.
Completely immersed in the people they love.
Rather than directing every movement, we gently guide when needed and step back when the moments deserve to unfold uninterrupted. This balance allows your gallery to feel both beautifully curated and completely authentic.
Nothing forced.
Nothing overdone.
Just honest moments captured with intention.
EDITORIAL REPORTAGE - INSPIRED BY FASHION, ROOTED IN DOCUMENTARY
We are endlessly inspired by fashion photography. The clean compositions and dazzling architecture. The understated styling and the elegance of simplicity. And of course, the beautiful light.
But weddings aren't fashion campaigns.
They're living stories.
That is why our work sits somewhere between editorial imagery and documentary storytelling.
We notice the details others overlook.
Your best friend adjusting your veil before the ceremony.
The tears held back during speeches.
The children running barefoot across the lawn long after sunset.
The atmosphere between moments often becomes the most meaningful photograph of the day.
THE QUIET ART OF OBSERVATION
We believe the best photographs are discovered, not manufactured.
Throughout your wedding day, we're constantly observing.
Watching light move through a room. Looking for quiet interactions. Anticipating emotion before it happens. Finding beauty in movement rather than stillness.
This allows your photographs to feel organic and effortless, while still maintaining the refined composition expected from luxury editorial imagery.
Nothing is rushed.
Everything has purpose.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Timeless, refined imagery with an editorial aesthetic and a documentary heart.
Designed to feel elegant today and equally beautiful decades from now.
WEDDING FILMS
Thoughtfully crafted films that capture not only how your wedding looked, but how it felt.
Movement, sound and emotion woven together into something cinematic yet deeply personal.
35MM FILM PHOTOGRAPHY
Film has a way of slowing everything down.
Its softness, texture and unpredictability create images that feel nostalgic from the moment they're developed.
Perfectly imperfect.
Beautifully human.
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILMS
Dreamlike, romantic and timeless. Super 8 carries a warmth that digital simply can't replicate, preserving your wedding with the feeling of a treasured family heirloom.
WEDDING CONTENT CREATION
Designed for the modern couple who wants to relive the excitement of their wedding almost immediately.
Thoughtfully captured behind-the-scenes moments, delivered quickly and beautifully, allowing you to revisit the celebration while it's still unfolding in your memory.
OUR COUPLES
Our couples value experience over extravagance. They appreciate thoughtful design, curated elegance and meaningful human connection.
Many are planning destination celebrations across Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
Some celebrate with thirty guests. Others with three hundred.
What unites them isn't the size of the wedding.
It's the intention behind it.
They care deeply about creating a celebration that feels genuine.
One that prioritises connection over performance.
One that will feel just as relevant fifty years from now as it does today.
CREATING SPACE FOR BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS
Some of our favourite photographs happen when nothing appears to be happening at all.
The quiet walk between ceremony and reception.
The pause before the speeches begin.
The final moments of sunset.
The deep breath before you step onto the dance floor.
This is why we place such importance on thoughtful timelines.
Because beautiful imagery isn't created by rushing from one event to the next.
It's created by allowing moments to breathe.
When your wedding day feels calm, your photographs naturally become more authentic.
OUR SIGNATURE AESTHETIC
Every image we create is guided by the same philosophy:
Intentional composition.
Effortless direction.
Authentic emotion.
Editorial elegance.
Documentary honesty.
Organic movement.
These principles shape everything we do, whether we're photographing an intimate dinner beneath olive trees in the Yarra Valley, filming a black-tie celebration in Sydney, documenting a wedding weekend in New Zealand, or capturing a destination celebration on the coast of Italy.
Our work is never about chasing trends.
It's about creating imagery that feels timeless.
THE ROMANCE ERA
Long after the flowers have faded, the music has stopped and the champagne glasses have been cleared away, your photographs and films become the way your story is remembered.
Not simply how it looked.
But how it felt.
The Romance Era exists for couples who believe that luxury is found in authenticity, that elegance never needs to be loud, and that the most meaningful stories are the ones told honestly.
Because the greatest love stories don't need to be staged.
They simply need to be seen.
We can’t wait to capture your love story!
